Connecting with Our Riverfront

Recognized as the birthplace of Minnesota, the City of Stillwater is a celebrated riverfront town known for its outdoor recreational opportunities and scenic views.

Our thriving community attracts thousands of visitors every year and is dedicated to honoring and preserving its cultural, historical and natural resources while ensuring a high-quality living environment and exceptional recreational facilities.

To meet the growing demand for leisure activities and opportunities along the St. Croix River, the city developed the “Riverfront Renewal” plan that would invest $13.5 million to transform Lumberjack Landing and Bridgeview Parks.

Improvements include:

  • Improved river access

  • Building repairs and enhancements

  • New recreation opportunities

  • Expanded vegetation management

  • Riverbank stabilization

  • Trail paving

The city has already secured more than half of the funding ($7.3 million) from the state legislature, private donations, grants and city contributions. This November, residents will decide whether to approve a half-percent local sales and use tax to fund the remaining $6.2 million for the projects over a 10-year period.

This website was created to provide Stillwater residents with the information they need to learn more about the Riverfront Renewal plan and the referendum to support it.
